If you have been following along on Instagram then you know we redecorated our living room in January. My friend Maddi (@madimagill) has always had a good eye for home decor. When she was decorating her first home, she learned to put things together on photoshop prior to purchasing items. This helps so much with seeing things together before buying rather than buying random items and seeing how they fit.

I haven’t really ever been happy with our living room decor. If you have been following for a while then you know we have been through multiple rugs and styles for decor. When I decided I was ready to redo our living room (for the final time) I went to Maddi for help! She was so excited to help me and I was excited to not only be her first client, but to also let her do her thing that she loves. I sent her the couch I planned on ordering, the rug and the ottoman we currently had then let her decide everything else. I LOVE IT.
I feel like the living room is still neutral, but with amazing pops color. Our couch before was huge and so comfy, but took up so much space. By having a smaller couch and 2 chairs, we didn’t lose any seating but it still feels way more open and not closed off.

The Couch: I know what you are thinking. You are thinking we are insane for having a white couch with two dogs and a baby. BUT that is why I wanted a completely machine washable couch and if it wasn’t machine washable I wasn’t buying it. This is the Gronlid couch from Ikea. It is very affordable, and every piece of cloth on this couch can be tossed in the washer!
The Pillows: These pillows are not cheap, but I love them and the amazing quality that they are. Jolie Marche has amazing pillow covers in all styles. I love the mix of prints and colors Maddi picked!
The Chairs: These were actually a last minute find. I had planned on ordering the white sectional not the couch. I mentioned the couch and at the same time Maddi mentioned doing a couch with accent chairs. These are very affordable and honestly comfy! I sit in them often and I love the pop of color.
The Accent Pieces: From the art to the lamp all of these pieces fit SO well together. Because Maddi designs in photoshop first, we were able to see everything together prior to ordering. Some of the accent pieces like the tray table, photo frames, and greenery were all items I already owned. Like I said before, the ottoman was a piece we already owned. I wanted a coffee table/ottoman that was practical for holding drinks (use the tray table for that) and putting our feet on. I also had the idea of Isla learning to stand and walk in mind. The thought of her hitting her head or something on the corner of a table scared me so this is perfect!
The Rug: A big downside to loving light colored items and having dogs is that it’s basically impossible to keep things clean. Our dogs are inside dogs, but naturally track dirt in after being outside, I knew I wanted a neutral rug, but I didn’t want to spend money on something that would get nasty in three months. So many of you told me to look into Ruggable. They sell machine washable rugs which is exactly what we need with a baby and dogs. I have washed it one time and it went great!
SO HAPPY with how this turned out! I finally feel like it is my style and that our home really feels like it’s almost complete (two years after living here). If you are interested in having Maddi help you with home design, please reach out to her on Instagram (@maddimagill). If you live local, she can design and install for you! If you are not local, she can still do E Design for you. She can design any and all rooms, one room, or an entire house if you need it!

UP NEXT…. Isla’s playroom and our master bedroom! Can’t wait to share those spaces with you.
